Hi, my name is Louise, and this is my husband, Tim. We have been clients of Foster Denovo since 2020, and we are looked after by Adam Rideout.

I wanted to get in touch with a financial adviser, which led us to Foster Denovo, because I wasn’t clear about my own financial security and future. I honestly had no idea whether I was saving enough and whether I was saving enough into my pension, and what the future looked like for me. That really scared me, so I wanted to work with somebody who could give me a bit of clarity about what the future looks like and then what I might need to do to shape it in a positive way.

I remember the first time we met with Adam. I said to him, “I want our money to work harder for us.” It was really interesting because when I said that Adam picked it apart and said, “Well, what do you actually mean by that? Are you talking about your own future, your child’s future, or your savings into your pension?” So, it was really great to have somebody who just laid it all out for us, who helped us build a plan that started from today all the way up past retirement. He got us thinking about how much we wanted to be putting into our pension, but also how much money we wanted to have for right now.
We found out about Foster Denovo through a friend of ours who had been working with Foster Denovo, and Adam in particular, for years. The friend also works in the finance industry, so we felt if we could trust anybody, we could trust him.

Working with Adam has made me feel calm about my future. I was previously stressed and worried about not knowing whether I had things in a good place.

Over the years, the types of things Adam has helped us with have been really varied. When I went into this, I was thinking there would just be one thing that Foster Denovo and Adam would help us with, and that was building out a financial plan. But there’s actually been loads of different things that he’s supported us with which has been really helpful. For example, in addition to the financial plan that we now have in place, he’s helped us with general important things to do with our lives, such as making sure we had lasting power of attorney in place, making sure we have things like in case of death documentation that we can pass on to people who would execute our estate for us. Sorting basic financial management things that I never thought a financial adviser would help us with. So, there’s been quite a few things which I’ve found really, really helpful.

I feel in control of our and my financial future since working with Adam over the last few years, because I know what we’re doing is going to give us a decent future, but we can also do some good things now and not feel guilty about it.
Louise
The three words I use to describe Adam are knowledgeable, confident, and calm.
Tim
One of the best things about working with Adam is how he simplifies complex issues. All the things that we discuss, I understand, yet they can be quite complex and scary subjects from the outset.
The best piece of advice Adam has given us so far would be not to look at everything in the short term, and not sweat over details if things are going up or down on a day-to-day or even monthly basis, but instead take a long term view of how things are going.
