My name is Fiona Campbell. I’ve been a client of Foster Denovo since 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, and Adam is my adviser.
I was in my mid-50s, and although I had been contributing to a pension, I had no idea about how far it would go and when I would be able to retire, so I was seeking some advice and certainty around when I would be able to retire comfortably.
The company that I work for provides us with details of potential advisers to help with financial planning and planning for retirement, for example. After reading Adam’s CV, I picked him out of the list because he seemed a good fit for what I was looking for.
He invested and spent a significant amount of time asking me questions about myself and made me think a lot about what I wanted to do. He didn’t really take anything at face value, he was very challenging around some of my assumptions, for example. So, I felt that I could trust him, that he understood what I was asking for, and what my expectations were, and he gave very bespoke advice about what I was looking for.
I feel like I’m able to make educated decisions about what I’m going to do. I was a bit in the dark before and I had my fingers crossed that everything would be okay, but now I have very clear timelines and parameters. So, it gives me security more than anything.
He told me “You’re in this for the long game. Investing is a long game.” I’ve been through two major shifts in the stock market, and I think if I’d been doing this by myself without Adam’s support, I’d be much more unsure. So, having him there as a solid ear, and someone who is constantly sending out messages like “Don’t panic.” etc. and he has lots of data about the way the markets have changed. It’s much easier when you have somebody who’s informed to guide you when you’re panicking because you’re reading stuff in a newspaper, for example. The comfort and support have been priceless.
My feelings and my confidence levels around my financial future are completely transformed. I went from a state of hoping everything would be okay, but not knowing, to now knowing. I have a date, my financial independence day, and I have my plans. He does a very long-term forecast, until you live to be 80, 90, or whatever it might be. So, I just feel secure and it’s not something I worry about anymore.
I would absolutely recommend Foster Denovo, and Adam in particular. And I have done to at least two or three of my friends who are now working with Adam as well. We were all in similar situations in our lives and the broader experience that I had with Adam, not just about financial advice, but thinking about my future and what I wanted to achieve, I found incredibly helpful. So, I wholeheartedly recommend him.
